Policy on intruders in the home

>> Listen to this Article or Add to Podcast
Today the government has released a leaflet via ACPO and the CPS titled "HOUSEHOLDERS AND THE USE OF FORCE AGAINST INTRUDERS" providing advice on what is reasonable in such rare circumstances that an intruder needs to be confronted and detailing the response householders can expect from the Police and Crown Prosecution Service.

After downloading and studying this leaflet I'm dismayed by the ambiguous language used but not surprised given the preference this government has for spin and the Human Rights Act over the public they are supposed to represent and serve. If the purpose of releasing this leaflet was to clear up the current unclear situation it has failed, and failed miserably.

So if you're interested in seeing what a mess our government made of this leaflet you can download a copy in PDF here.
